67 Journalists and Media Staff Were Killed on Duty in 2022

From a Washington Post story by Andrew Jeong headlined “67 journalists and media staff killed on duty in 2022, report says”:

Sixty-seven journalists and media staff have been killed so far this year while performing their duties, the Brussels-based International Federation of Journalists said Friday in its annual report documenting reporters’ deaths.

The toll is an increase from last year, when 47 were killed, and is the highest since 2018, when 95 journalists and media staff died due to “targeted killings, bomb attacks or crossfire incidents.” Ukraine was the most dangerous place for journalists this year, with 12 media fatalities there due to the ongoing war.
