Henry Kissinger Makes Surprise Visit to China

Former secretary of state Henry Kissinger, the 100-year-old who was at the heart of the United States’ rapprochement with China half a century ago, said during a surprise visit to Beijing that the two countries must learn to coexist peacefully and avoid confrontation.

Kissinger met Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu in Beijing on Tuesday, according to a report by the official Xinhua News Agency that was also posted on the ministry’s website.
