Av Westin: Inluential Television Producer and Perennial Winner of Emmy Awards

From a New York Times obit by Richard Sandomir headlined “Av Westin, Newsman Behind ABC’s ’20/20,’ Dies at 92”:

Av Westin, an influential television producer who rose from copy boy at CBS News for Edward R. Murrow in the 1940s to help make ABC’s “20/20” newsmagazine a perennial winner of Emmy Awards, died in Manhattan….

Mr. Westin had spent a year as the executive producer of ABC’s “World News Tonight” when he took over at “20/20” in 1979. Over the next seven years, the program won more than 30 news and documentary Emmy Awards, including 11 in 1981.
