Anderson Cooper grew up in the shadow of great wealth: His great-great-great-grandfather was Cornelius Vanderbilt, one of the richest men in American history. His mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, was at the center of a sensational trial in the 1930s when her mother and aunt battled for custody of the little girl and her trust fund — worth more than $80 million in today’s dollars.
