Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy Accused of Sexual Misconduct, Vows to Sue

From a New York Post story by Mark Lungariello headlined “Dave Portnoy accused of sexual misconduct by three more women, vows to sue”:

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said Wednesday he plans to file a lawsuit over a new report that outlined allegations he filmed sex with women without their consent.

The 44-year-old internet celebrity is facing accusations from several women of sexual misconduct and rough sex that turned humiliating, but Portnoy strongly denied the claims.

Three more women told Business Insider that Portnoy filmed their sexual encounters without permission — with one woman claiming he broke her rib during an aggressive tryst caught on camera.

But Portnoy denied he ever filmed anyone without their consent and issued a lengthy blog entry rebutting the allegations and pledging to sue Business Insider and writer Julia Black.

“Somebody has to be the guy who says enough is enough,” Portnoy wrote in an entry after the publication of the article. “A guy who is willing to burn to make sure his enemies burn with him.”

Portnoy “has nothing to hide and lives for revenge,” he wrote in the post.

“Because if I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times. I’m willing to blow up my own ship as long as everybody I hate sinks with me too,” he said.

“There will be no settling. No amount they can pay me to get them off their backs. I won’t rest till I put these people out of business.”

In November 2021, Business Insider first outlined allegations from women who accused Portnoy of aggressive and humiliating sexual encounters. The publication’s latest article on Wednesday includes new accusations from a woman identified as Kayla, who claimed Portnoy grew increasingly aggressive over several encounters and slapped her in the face and choked her during sex.

“Like, sure, it’s fun to get choked a little bit. It was just way too much,” Kayla said, according to the publication. “It was scary. I was getting no air. Not being able to breathe is one of the scariest things, and it sends you into such a panic.”

Other accusations include that the Barstool honcho sent videos of himself having sex with other women.

Portnoy, for his part, in his lengthy rebuttal, said the sexual encounters were consensual and continued after the accusers allegedly felt intimidated. In his rebuttal, he shares screenshots of graphic text message exchanges with some of the people allegedly behind the accusations.

In some instances, he says the accusers continued to send him unsolicited messages well after their relationships.

Barstool was founded in 2003 as a newspaper and later went digital.
