Big Money in Baseball and Real Estate: Max Scherzer Sells His Home in Washington for $15 Million

The Washington Nationals traded Max Scherzer to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 30 and he pitched well, winning seven games and losing none for the Dodgers. He’s now a free agent and is likely to sign another big contract with the Dodgers or another team.

As for Scherzer’s home in Washington, his 8,264 square-foot, five-bedroom house in McLean was listed for $15 million. It is now under contract with a buyer for an undisclosed sum. If Scherzer is able to obtain the full asking price from the buyer, the deal would represent an impressive payday for the three-time Cy Young award winner, who purchased the house for $5.2 million in 2015—though the property has undergone an expensive renovation.

Last year the three-time Cy Young award winner bought a $9.75 million home in Jupiter, Florida. The waterfront home, on just under an acre in Palm Beach County, features five bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, and 7,778 square feet.
