A majority of the Supreme Court seemed ready Monday to agree with a group of California teachers who say it violates their First Amendment rights to be required to pay dues to the state’s teachers union.

Better said:

A majority of the Supreme Court seemed ready Monday to agree with a group of California teachers who say requiring them to pay dues to the state’s teachers union violates their First Amendment rights.

Better yet:

A majority of the Supreme Court seemed ready Monday to agree with a group of California teachers who say requiring them to pay union dues violates their free speech rights.
